The Indian automobile market saw a fierce battle for supremacy in July 2025, but one clear winner emerged Maruti Suzuki, which dominated the top-selling cars list. According to data from the Times of India, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire topped the charts with a whopping 20,895 units sold, far ahead of its competitors. This sedan continues to be a favorite among Indian families for its fuel efficiency, affordability, and reliability. Following the Dzire, Hyundai's Creta & EV took the second spot with 16,898 units, showcasing a growing interest in electric variants. The Maruti Ertiga, a popular MPV, closely followed with 16,604 units, thanks to its spacious interiors and strong demand from large families and fleet operators.
Maruti Suzuki’s stronghold on the Indian market is evident, with seven out of the top ten best-selling cars coming from its stable. Alongside the Dzire and Ertiga, other Maruti models such as the Wagon R (14,710 units), Swift (14,200 units), Brezza (14,100 units), Fronx (12,900 units), and Baleno (12,600 units) continued to perform impressively. Each model caters to a different segment hatchbacks, compact SUVs, and crossovers reflecting Maruti's deep understanding of the Indian consumer. Meanwhile, Mahindra's Scorpio (13,800 units) secured a solid position with its rugged SUV appeal, particularly in tier-2 and rural markets. Tata's Nexon, including its electric variant, held strong at 12,855 units, reinforcing Tata’s commitment to innovation and EV adoption.
This month’s sales clearly indicate a consumer preference for practicality, brand trust, and value for money. Maruti Suzuki continues to lead by offering a wide portfolio across different categories and price points. Hyundai and Tata are showing strong competition, particularly in the electric vehicle space. As India gradually shifts towards sustainable mobility, EV variants are becoming increasingly significant in sales figures. The coming months will be crucial in determining whether these trends continue or if newer models and emerging brands disrupt the status quo.
